序言I
“美术文献展”是湖北美术馆于建馆初期，即与美术文献艺术中心合作推出的重要品牌三年展项目，展览从“立足本土，面向世界；兼顾历史，重在当代”的办馆理念出发，一方面积极助推区域艺术生态的多元化发展，同时倾力打造具有前瞻性、研究性、国际性的艺术交流平台。16年间，“美术文献展”持续参与、记录与见证着中国当代艺术的发展历程，这其间，视觉艺术表达和传播的发展创新，也相对客观地呈现出时代浪潮中艺术探索与实践的思考轨迹。
“第六届美术文献展”邀请北京电影学院刘旭光教授担任策展人，展览定位为新媒体艺术，既是对数字时代大背景下艺术与科技融合发展共创之美的集中呈现，亦是新媒体艺术二十年深入发展丰硕成果的视觉浓缩。展览主题“归墟与维度”，旨在通过循环场域与多维空间的视觉营造为观众呈现一个艺术感知与创作思索下的多向度的、开放的景观世界。本届展览共邀请到100余位艺术家参展，设有“空间/场域”“光影/媒介”“形式/跨界”“语言/对话”四个单元，分别在湖北美术馆与美术文献艺术中心展出，展场内，新媒体与传统艺术样式的有意味并置，艺术与科技新生空间内的相映成趣，历史与未来交织链接后的可能性延展，都充分体现了策展团队与艺术家智慧合力下以多元创新之态引领新时代审美风尚的视觉思考和有力实践。
“美术文献展”的持续举办，是湖北美术馆作为国家重点美术馆的本土立场与学术坚守，更是公共文化机构为公众提供高质量展览、高品质服务的重要举措。期待“第六届美术文献展：归墟与维度”的展出能收获更多有价值的讨论与启示。

Foreword I
The Documentary Exhibition of Fine Arts is an important triennial project launched by the Hubei Museum of Art in collaboration with the Fine Arts Literature Art Center during the initial stage of the museum's establishment. The exhibition, based on the museum's operational concept of "adapting to local conditions, embracing the world, honoring history, and prioritizing modernity", aims to actively promote the diversified development of the regional art ecosystem while creating an international art exchange platform that is forward-looking and research-based. Over the past 16 years, the Documentary Exhibition of Fine Arts has been actively engaged in, documenting, and witnessing the development of contemporary art in China. During this period, the development and innovation of visual art expression and communication have also demonstrated the reflection on artistic exploration and practice that has evolved with the times.
The 6th Documentary Exhibition of Fine Arts, with Professor Liu Xuguang from Beijing Film Academy as the curator, will focus on new media art. It will not only present the integrated development and co-creation of art and technology in the digital age but showcase the fruitful results of the in-depth development of new media art over the past two decades. With the theme "Returning to Void and Dimension", the exhibition aims to present the viewers with a multidimensional, open landscape of artistic perception and creative contemplation through the visual design of cyclical fields and multi-dimensional spaces. Featuring four modules—Space/Field, Light and Shadow/Media, Form/Crossover, and Language/Dialogue, this exhibition will showcase the artworks of over 100 artists at the Hubei Museum of Art and the Fine Arts Literature Art Center. Through the deliberate juxtaposition of new media and traditional art, engaging interplay between art and technology, and presentation of more possibilities arising from the interaction between the past and the future, the exhibition will fully embody the visual thinking and solid practice of the curatorial team and artists, who, through their collective wisdom, lead the aesthetic trends in the new era based on diversified innovation.
The continuous hosting of the Documentary Exhibition of Fine Arts is not only the Hubei Museum of Art's commitment to its local position and academic integrity as a national key art museum but also an important measure by public cultural institutions to provide the public with high-quality exhibitions and services. 三年很快，美术文献展已经到了第六届。从梳理历史到探寻观念，从与世界对话到重归自然与大地，美术文献展承载了无数艺术工作者的坚持与付出，走过了20年。我们立足地域，与中国当代艺术共同生长，既是记录者，也是参与者。几经起伏，行进至此，感到坦然。
第六届美术文献三年展由湖北美术馆和美术文献艺术中心联合主办，由著名艺术家刘旭光教授担任策展人，以新媒体艺术为定位，在数字时代的大背景下探讨精神与物质的可能性。随着科技与网络的发展，人们拥有了更多的方式与视角去探寻万物。宇宙周而复始，循环往复；人类的精神世界无边无际，变幻无常。历史、文化、经济、政治......这些元素是我们探寻“虚无”的桥梁。它们提醒着我们的来处，也昭示着我们的未来。本次展览共邀请了一百多位来自不同文化背景的艺术家，其中包括多位对当代艺术史产生了深远影响的东方艺术家，以多元视角为大家呈现一个独特的精神空间。第六届美术文献展将坚持一贯的文献性与学术性，既是历史，也是未来。当代艺术与社会发展和当下生活紧密相关，希望通过文献展的平台，从当下出发，激发对未来的思考和探求。

Three years have gone by so quickly. The 6th Documentary Exhibition of Fine Arts is coming. The past twenty years have witnessed the joint and unremitting efforts of numerous artists and staff who dedicate themselves to this triennial project. Previous documentary exhibitions discussed about how to review art history, explore conceptual art, communicate with globe and return to nature and earth. As a recorder and participant of Chinese contemporary art, this region-based exhibition continues to develop with contemporary art. It is a great relief to see the Documentary Exhibition of Fine Arts, after all the ups and downs, has been steadily and successfully hosted over years.
The 6th Documentary Exhibition of Fine Arts, with Hubei Museum of Art and Fine Arts Literature Art Center as co-organizers and Professor Liu Xuguang as the chief curator, will focus on new media art and explore the possibilities of material and spirit in this digital era. Advances in science and technology enable human beings to explore the world in different ways and from different perspectives. The whole universe moves in a cycle and the spiritual world of human is boundless and ever-changing. Historical, cultural, economic and political elements lead us to the void, origin and future. Over one hundred artists from different cultural backgrounds, especially several Eastern artists who have profound influences on the history of contemporary art, will attend this documentary exhibition. Their artworks are expected to provide a unique and multi-dimensional spiritual space for the audience. The 6th Documentary Exhibition of Fine Arts will still remain as a documentary and academic event which will not only review the history of art, but also explore the future of art. Contemporary art is closely related to social development and daily life. It is hoped that the 6th Documentary Exhibition of Fine Arts will start from now and will further stimulate discussions about and exploration of the future.
